A Word From Anne

Did you ever have a piece of clothing you just LOVED? One you stepped out in so often you wore it out?

Maybe you kept it, even when it was tattered and past repair...impossible to wear anymore. And if you ended up throwing it out later on, maybe you felt that pang inside and it was hard to let it go.

That happened to me with a coat. She was thrift store chic in my college days and had moth holes in the hem even when she came to me. Graceful lines, like an artist's smock, reaching down to my ankles. I knew she was for me, making me feel like the artist I knew I truly was.

Later I saw, through others' eyes: those moth holes in the hem, not enough buttons, not warm enough for Chicago winters. Wind whistled up those gorgeous sleeves, yet I loved her still. First job after college, so cold, buying a new coat. I gave her away, more than 30 years ago. I still think of her...and miss her.

Bring back the memory of your own cherished, long gone clothing with this unique and colorful sculpture. A flash of where the red coat's front parts met graces the canvas; in front, a see-through panel that acts like a scrim, letting you glimpse the coat as if through the haze of memory.
