Artist Talk A Hit With Festival Audience

What a pleasure to present at the Festival Of Independent Artists' special event, Artists Speak, this past Saturday.

If you were able to join us, thank you so much for coming. It was wonderful to see so many people I know in the audience...and to meet many new art fans and collectors.

Best of all, everyone in the room was so warm and welcoming and enjoyed my presentation - they gave me a big round of applause, too!

My Talk A 'Double First'

My talk ended up being a "double first" for the festival:

1. This year is the first time the Festival Of Independent Artists offered the Artists Speak event, in which organizers chose a short list of artists participating in the show to give talks about their artistry and one of their pieces on view at the fest.
2. In addition, the organizers chose me out of all the participating artists to speak first. What an honor and an opportunity.

Secrets & Miracles: From My Heart

During the talk, it felt like my heart took over to do the talking. I shared some of the secrets about my art, including why I paint and why watercolor became my favorite medium. During the talk, my pink lily painting, Open To Possibilities, was right beside me as an example of my artistry and the process used to bring her and so many other paintings to life.

I also talked about why every painting that I share with you - either in a show or in your home when you add an original painting to your collection - is a miracle.

Why? Because of the type of handmade paper used and the process required to create a beautifully finished and framed piece.

It can feel like living on the artistic edge to bring a painting to life and then prepare it for framing and presentation: at any point in the process, the painting might not make it, might not survive in a form that can be framed. 

And yet. When it works, it's glorious. GLORIOUS!

Because it means I can share the painting with you, and our souls can connect in a way that only art allows. From my heart to yours.
