More About The Painting

This gentle quality can be seen in the painting’s paper, a handmade Japanese mulberry paper that is soft and transparent yet surprisingly strong. Wide brushstrokes soften the petals’ texture, while white paint tones down their yellow-orange color. In the flower’s center, however, narrow strokes of more intense color provide sharp texture and contrast and help define the trumpet’s ruffled edge and central filaments.

This painting has a powerful association with Aries, thanks to its daffodil subject, because these flowers bloom during Aries time in the northern hemisphere.
