If you have felt a little dreamy lately and unable to accomplish as much as you normally do, then your life is mirroring the current astrology and putting you in a gentle harmony with planetary energies.
With the Sun in Pisces, we are in the waning days of the current astrological year because Pisces is the last sign in the zodiac. From now until the upcoming equinox, which occurs when the Sun enters Aries on March 19 or 20 (depending on your time zone), we have opportunities to review the past year, tie up loose ends, and prepare for the new astrological year.
Given Pisces’s emotional sensitivity and interest in spirituality, this time of year typically brings a dreamy energy that encourages us to draw inward and helps us close out the astrological year via self-reflection. This year, additional astrological factors increase that impulse:
- Mars, the planet of action and personal initiative, is retrograde in Virgo, the sign opposite Pisces. When any planet is retrograde, it appears to move backward and its energy becomes muted; in the case of Mars, our “get up and go” gets up and goes, forcing us to slow down and put off taking action or making decisions. Working effectively with this energy, which continues until mid-April, means taking action (Mars) on the inner plane (retrograde) by reviewing Virgo-related areas of life (health, job, daily routine).
- With Mars opposite the Sun in Pisces, we might encounter people or circumstances that seem to block our outward progress or ability to get things done, making this a good time to slow down and review the Pisces areas of our lives as well (spirituality, consciousness, compassionate service to others).
- Adding to this slow and dreamy energy is Mercury, currently in Pisces and appearing to slow down before it goes retrograde March 12. Mercury rules reasoning and other mental processes, so we may find it more difficult to make decisions.
- Saturn, the planet that pushes us to work hard to achieve tangible results, also is retrograde and remains so until late June. Saturn is in Libra (relationships, balance, justice), making this a good time to review all partnerships and other Libra areas of life.
These energies increase this time of year’s natural impulse toward contemplation and inner reflection, making this a perfect time to rest, review the past, and dream about the future. You may find it helpful to draw on your spiritual resources in the coming weeks by paying special attention to your dreams and intuition and then reflecting on them via prayer and meditation.
If you do not currently pursue a spiritual practice, you may feel drawn to explore this area of your life. Then, like a fish breaking water, you may find that life’s hidden dimensions begin to bubble up and break the surface of your consciousness, enriching and expanding your life. If you pay attention to the insights you receive, you will be ready to move forward with greater spiritual depth once the new astrological year begins in March.
Wishing you a fruitful end to this astrological year,
